Four weeks after the passing of McQueen, yesterday, the collection that he had been working on at the time of his death was revealed to the world. For fifteen minutes, in Paris at the Paris Fashion Week, Lee Alexander McQueen was alive again. With 16 outfits, 80% completed by Lee, McQueen’s team finished the collection for the world to remember the great work that he produced in his lifetime. As each of the outfits left the catwalk the audience sat silently, with the last piece leaving the view of the audience, the first sound of clapping started backstage. Applaud soon spread to the audience, as everyone expressed their love for McQueen’s final work and life.

Below, 4 of 16 final outfits designed by McQueen.

Milan Fashion Week got off to a rocky start with many Italian protestors dressing up as famed American Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour, after she had scheduling conflicts and allegedly had fashion week changed to accommodate her busy schedule. Many of the protestors gathered outside the fashion week runways dressed with blonde wigs, large circular sunglasses, t-shirts that read ” Three Days Only ” and held posters as a sign of their detest for Wintour. Although it was a valiant effort on their part, the ice cold Wintour didn’t even seem to flinch when seeing the troves of protestors mocking her. Regardless of the hubbub surrounding Milan Fashion Week, it still went on with some designers showing some beautiful garments, while others showed some simply bad taste and some others showing some just bizarre collections. Take a look at some of the Beautiful, the Bad, and the Bizarre from Milan.

CAPES and cape style jackets are not just for superheroes anymore; designers and models alike are showing the world that they are a continuing trend during this season’s fashion weeks. Over the past few seasons, the cape has been showing up on runways all around the world. While the idea of a cape may at first frighten many a fashionista, the idea behind this cape trend is the cut of jacket that would be compared to a loose fitting shrug or wrap, which has always been a hit on the runway. Aren’t long tailed tuxedos currently worn by those willing to bleed over the edge harkening back to an era of otherworldly elegance in the 1960s? Then it only begs asking, why not a cape!?

Cape style jacket was a prominent feature on the European runways for A/W 09/10 collection.

Fendi stood out with their cropped fringed cape jacket that they team with a relaxed one-piece.

As spring fashion weeks guide people’s focus to major Fashion cities like New York, Paris, and Milan, people have overlooked the new rising star in the fashion world: Detroit. As many think of this city to be dead or dying, some people see this city to be the largest fashion opportunity for the future. As the New York Fashion Week is soon to begin, the people of the mid-west just wrapped up viewing Detroit’s fourth consecutive annual Fashion Week this past Saturday.

Fashion specialists of the state of Michigan know that Detroit will be the next big stop for the fashion world. The city’s history in the automotive industry has provided generations of workers in the fields of design and manufacturing, and while the auto industry is losing steam, the creative thinks and industrial factory spaces, that once made the city so great, hold a large opportunity in a growing industry, fashion. With craftsmanship that is above that of many other areas of the world, it is only appropriate to assume that the city and it’s workers have the design and manufacturing abilities to fill the demand for fashionable clothes, made in America.

In the near future, Joe Faris, senior designer for Schott N.Y.C, has planned a second sort of Fashion Week: Fashion in Detroit; “a high-end runway show,” that will drop in less than two weeks. Unlike Detroit Fashion Week’s $350 entrance fee, Fashion in Detroit’s fee is $2,500, and the inaugural show has attracted some nationally recognized figures, including Betsey Johnson and Kid Rock, who will show his Made In Detroit clothing line.

Faris, along with many others, feel that even in these bad economical times, Detroit can make a name for itself in the fashion world, and use its powerful industrial characteristics to create jobs and bring a more optimistic light to the city.

As much as we all love the beautiful, and impossibly chic clothes that grace the runways of New York Fashion Week, we love the models more. Fashion week is not only a time to advance the careers of designers, but models too!

Newcomer Carla Gebhart, who before fashion week was just another young girl trying to make it in the world of modeling, is now a major name in the fashion industry. After walking into numerous castings for incredibly picky clients like Gucci and Burberry, Gebhart found herself hired on the spot for their runway shows. This Argentinean teen is now scheduled to appear on even more runways in Milan and Paris Fashion Week. Keep your eyes open, something tells me we will be seeing a lot more of this young newcomer. Campaigns? Billboards? Sounds about right.

Number 1: Pastel Colors Are Sexy

At New York Fashion Week, Michael Kors‘ models walked the runway sporting a grown-up version of pastel eye shadow. Shimmery beiges, pale greens, yellows, pinks and radiant purples were all used on the runway to make the models’ eyes pop. To achieve this look yourself: line your eyes with a black eye pencil and add gold shimmer to the inner corners. Then apply a light blue, green, pink or purple shadow along the lower curve of the eyes from the lash line to just above the crease. Lastly, simply smudge and blend the colors to make a gorgeous and fresh take on pastel eye shadow.

Number 2: Allover Skin Moisturizer

It is important that models’ skin stays moist and radiant. To achieve this, models use an ultra rich moisturizing balm to keep their natural glow. Use a face moisturizer like Darphin Aromatic Renewing Balm (available at darphin.com, $70) or a little petroleum jelly to keep your face fresh.

Number 3: Oranges Is In

Many of the runway shows in New York traded in the traditional red for a more muted orange tone. Designer Rebecca Taylor put bright orange lipstick on many of her models, to compliment the orange hues she used in her Spring 2010 collection. To balance orange lipstick, we suggest rubbing a creamy orange blush into the cheekbones and complimenting the eyes with a light smoky brown eye shadow.

Number 4: Lashes are Key!

Eyelashes are a attention grabber, as Chado Ralph Rucci showed us in New York, so it is important for models to have feather-like lashes, not clumped or chunky. To achieve perfect lashes, apply mascara with a fan brush (available at drugstores and MAC, $18). Apply by rubbing the fan brush over your mascara wand, then brush it into your lashes, the stiff fan brush bristles will keep your lashes from clumping.

Number 5: Primp Your Ponytail

The runways of New York Fashion Week were abuzz with slicked back hair-dos and every version of a bun or ponytail. The sexy ponytails of runway shows such as Lela Rose and Monique Lhuillier were complete with crimped and curled textures with hair wrapped around the elastic ponytail holders, to give a more natural look. To achieve this look: spritz sections of your wet hair with hairspray, then blow-dry hair by running your fingers through it, to give it a messy look. Then use a crimping iron to crimp a large section of your hair straight down the middle of your head. Lastly, pull back the crimped section and secure your slicked-back pony.

Number 6: Try an Eye-Catching Mani

Your nails can be used as a showpiece accessory (think recession-friendly accessory). We suggest you paint your nails with an eye-catching shade and go over it with a sparkle polish. The chunky glitter and gold flakes are in, so take advantage and spice up your usual red and pinks. Brands such as Essie and OPI have some beautiful colors this season.

Number 7: Liven Up the Boring Bun

Chic buns were a hit at the Jason Wu and Tibi shows this New York Fashion Week. We really liked the classic runway staple with a twist. You can either use leftover fabric or ribbon to twist into your hair before wrapping it up into a bun or we suggest you wear a textured bun. A textured bun can be achieved by leaving hair natural or wavy and securing a messy bun at the nape of the neck by using bobby pins.

Number 8: The Vampire Craze Is Still Here

Many models on the runway sported deep Bordeaux, purple and wine colored lips and nails during fashion week. This intense lipstick color is not for everyone, but when done right looks beautiful. To achieve this look: apply a deep berry colored matte lipstick with a lip brush to create a base. Then add a creamy eggplant or wine shade on top, smooth with your finger for a stained effect. To balance out deep lips, use light bronze tones on the eyes to keep the warmth.

According to reports made by New York Magazine, the lovely and ever so refined super model Naomi Campbell was picked up by a taxi in Midtown in NYC this afternoon around 3 p.m. For reasons unknown, she apparently began hitting and slapping her cab driver. A police investigation is going on at this time. According to a police official interviewed by New York Magazine, “the driver stopped the car around 58th street and Second Avenue and called 911. He says Campbell jumped out of the car and ran.” Campbell, who has had troubles with anger management in the past, could be in serious trouble if this story checks out and the investigations deems her responsible. Good for the driver she wasn’t hitting him with her phone this time!
